We've known lots of pleasure,
At times endured pain,
We've lived in the sunshine
And walked in the rain.
But now we're seperated
And for a time apart,
But I am not alone-
You're forever in my heart.
Death always seems so sudden,
And it is always sure,
But what is oft' forgotten-
It is not without a cure.
There may be times you miss me,
I sort of hope you do,
But smile when you think of me,
For I'll be waiting for you.
Now there's many things for you to do,
And lots of ways to grow,
So get busy, be happy and live your life,
Miss me, but let me go.
You'll forever be missed Mum. Your sons Stephen & Wayne xxxx
Miss You Mum

LOVE ALWAYS STEVEN BELTS MUM.XXX
At last.
Nearly three weeks after I heard of Sandra's passing, at last I feel I can write about the girl who was my best friend at school. Sandra McCullough, who I chose as my friend because she was the girl who, against the rules, wore tennis pumps with uniform when we started at the grammar school - and got away with it. The girl with the cookie sense of humour I could relate to, the things we laughed at together that nobody else found funny. The clothes we wore - each other's sometimes, sometimes dressing alike - but not like anyone else at school. The music we listened to together that nobody else at school liked. They all thought we were a bit odd - and perhaps we were, but we liked Pink Floyd and Frank Zappa and Don Maclean - not very trendy with our age group at the time. The secrets we shared, and the poems we wrote - together and individually, almost like letters, we would comment on each other's writings. Although I didn't realise it at the time, I think Sandra had her sorrows even then, and I know that she thought they would all be over when she became (and remained) Sandra Semple. Sadly that proved not to be the case. Each in our different ways, we both had to deal with things we were not ready to deal with so early in life, which led us to drift apart. Our friendship was once very close, and although I had not seen her for many years it was with great sadness that I heard of her passing away. Sandra has left two sons who can be proud that she was their mother, although I fear they may not always have seen the best of her. I did. Fond memories of a bright and funny girl who did the best she could. On the day of the funeral after leaving the family (some of whom I'd met for the first time, others of whom I hadn't seen in thirty-five years)I went to our secret place to remember and give thanks for our friendship. Quote from Sandra's poem:
'When sorrow has the longing to be free
I'll see you at Castles in the Air'.
So that's where I went. May she be long remembered with love.

Too young to leave so soon. We remember happy times and still smile thinking how long it would take you to unwrap your gifts even though we would all tell you to rip the paper off you gently unwrapped everything slowly. You will be missed by your sons. Chas and Jean, Medicine Hat, Alberta Canada
